Everyone but the looters...

Why is it that everyone and everything but the looters are being blamed? What happened to the idea that you are responsible for your own actions even when you are in a really bad situation not of your own creation (giving the benefit of the doubt to the argument that many of these people despite a willingness were unable to evacuate) ?

A case can be made for the plundering of a grocery store but there is no "survival" excuse for stealing DVDs and sneakers. Racism doesn't explain it (those nasty republican crackers aren't getting us aid fast enough so we might as well loot a shoe store) and neither does blaming Bush (We've been abandoned here so we might as well loot a shoe store) or Global Warming (mother nature's a bitch so we might as well loot a shoe store). The idiots shooting at police officers aren't "trying to survive", they're rabid animals. Maybe if nothing else can come of this disaster the way it has forced us to consider these moral issues again will serve some small good.
